Designed and first built in 1958 by Mannon C. Gore, the Old Bridge brought an uncountable number of folks to the island of Sunset Beach. You had to time your trips onto and off of the island as the bridge opened for vessels making their way along the Intracoastal Waterway. In service for over fifty years, the bridge secured its rightful place in history and in the hearts of those who still remember – It Was Always Worth the Wait™
